Roma Iskander

Roma is passionate about connecting people to each other and ideas. Working with organisations, communities and individuals she creates the space for people to use their own initiative to develop ideas and find appropriate and sometimes unexpected solutions. As a leading practitioner in Open Space and whole systems working she focuses on:

  • Facilitating large and small groups
  • Project review and evaluation using participative approaches and participatory appraisal
  • Strategic development, often working with stories, drama and other creative processes
  • Regeneration initiatives that engage local people and maximise partnership working across sectors
  • Public health and health inequalities
  • Offering training in large group interventions and working with and for communities
Key Interests

Through designing processes that really engage people, Roma is convinced that things really happen when you bring all perspectives together in creative ways. Her strength is in helping others to achieve this for themselves by moving beyond structures and systems to people and processes.

Background
Roma has been a consultant in service, practice and organisational development since 1997. She previously worked at national level, for 12 years, as Director of a national charity (SANDS) and project manager at the Kings Fund. She has also held senior posts in health organisations as a non-executive of a London acute trust and chair of a leading national charity (Maternity Alliance) campaigning for maternity rights.
